I am from Green Bay, WI, and graduated from St. Norbert College with a B.S. majoring in computer science, math, and Spanish. I worked as an independent technology specialist for the several years and have also been involved with open-source development for over 10 years, particularly the AbiWord project. In 2014 I graduated from Iowa State University with a Ph.D. in human-computer interaction, co-majoring in computer science, because I am interested in how interaction can be designed to maximize the benefit of technology in our lives in a variety of ways.
During my Ph.D. study, I worked with Judy M. Vance, Ph.D., Joseph C. and Elizabeth A. Anderlik Professor of Engineering at Iowa State University. My research at Iowa State’s Virtual Reality Applications Center encompassed virtual reality usability, end-user development of immersive experiences, and haptic algorithms supporting virtual engineering and virtual prototyping.
Since 2014 I have worked as Senior Software Engineer at Sensics, Inc., primarily on the OSVR Open Source Virtual Reality software framework.
